Anna Vařeková, née Mlčochová, was born on 25 April 1924 in Střemeníček as the youngest of four children in the poor family of František Mlčoch, a bricklayer, and Marie, née Ocásková, a housewife. She spent her childhood modestly, helped at home and in the fields and soon went into the service. During the Second World War in 1944, she was forced to work in a factory in Hildesheim, Germany. After returning home, she witnessed the tragedy in nearby Javoříček, which was burned down by the Nazis on May 5, 1945, and all men over the age of 15 were shot. Together with her sister, she helped search for survivors and rescued a wounded relative. In 1946, she married Ladislav Vařeka and together they raised three children (Ladislav, Alena and Pavel). They lived in Vlčice and later in Loštice. She worked in the tvarůžky factory in Loštice, in the Vlčice stone quarry and in the Cooperative farm (JZD) in Loštice. She avoided politics all her life and concentrated on her family. At the time of filming in 2026, she lived in Morkovice-Slížany.
